Of all the five topics we have talked about, this one is the most removed from the others. It isn't tied to our possessions, how we spend our time or what we pursue in life. It is something that we as humans actually need to feel sustained. It's Social Interactions. Humanity thrives when we connect and communicate with each other. However, that which makes us thrive can also suffocate us when we over consume. Find out how we can find the correct balance of social connections and grow our walk with God and influence with those we connect below.
We've looked at several different elements of our lives in this series. Physical possessions, entertainment and leisure activities all have the potential to distract us from God's Will and harm our relationship with Jesus. However, these 3 are all symptoms of another larger form of distraction and harm: Success. How does the pursuit of this lofty aspiration, especially from the wrong perspective, distract and harm us? We examine that question today.
Activities and Hobbies
We have looked at physical possessions and entertainment so far and their effect on our spiritual walk with God. The amount of time and energy we spend on these two areas will help dictate whether we stay in balance with God or find ourselves outside the path He has set for us. Today we shift focus to another area of our lives that has the potential to pull us out of balance with God.
Our latest YouTube video for the Subtract Series is out and we have embedded it below. However, we ask that if you enjoy these videos, please head on over to our Channel and Subscribe to our channel. It's free and you'll get a notification every time we upload a new video. Thanks, God Bless, and Keep Searching.
Entertainment: The Distraction Before Downfall
Last week looked at physical possessions, an area that is easy to identify but difficult to abandon. This week we turn our attention to something a little more abstract. Entertainment is a relative term. Some find it in television and others in a good book. Some find it in social gatherings and performance events. Regardless, entertainment can be a good thing that stimulates the senses and the mind. However, it is easily overindulged in and can lead us to removing from reality. That's the danger that we look at today through the downfall of several groups and people.
We have our first video uploaded to our YouTube Channel. Check it out and like and subscribe the video to help us get more attention on the channel. Click the link below to access the video and our channel. Thanks in advance for your support.
Subtract From Your Possessions
Physical Possessions and The Pursuit of Them
We open this series by looking at one area that is easy to identify. The amount of physical possessions we own and how much time and energy we put into accruing them is easy to quantify. The desire we have for that house, that car, those clothes and more is easy to assess. It's right in front of us every day. It's on our minds regularly. Today, we look at physical possessions from a Biblical perspective to see how they can hold us back and what we can do to limit their influence. Hopefully, we will see how subtracting physical possessions and the pursuit of them still works today in our pursuit of God's plan for our lives.
